Somewhere Project

For the somewhere project I decided to insert a photo of me and my best friend Jasmine into a still from the 1991 film Thelma and Louise. Thelma and Louise happens to be one of my all-time favorite films. At the start of this project I was having a hard time figuring out what type of background setting would look the best for the photo that I choose to use for this project. After looking around for some time I came across the still from the film where Thelma and Louise are standing In the car. I felt as though the still image fits perfectly as the background for the picture I choose of me and my best friend. Overall this project was pretty simple and not too hard. I defiantly think my final photo could use a little more work to make it look more realistic but I’m proud of what I was able to accomplish.

Autoscopy Project

For the photoshop project we were asked to simply take ten photos, preferably ones we’ve taken, and manipulate them in Photoshop which for the most part was pretty easy. I’m really into photography, I shoot digitally and on 35mm, and when I heard we had the chance to manipulate photos I got pretty excited. I’ve never used Photoshop to its full potential because I honestly don’t edit the pictures I take because I take them mostly for fun. Overall, I really enjoyed manipulating my photos because some of the adjustment layers made my photos look really different and cool. Of all the images I edited my favorite one is the one of the palm trees. I honestly don’t remember what I did to eventually have the photo end up looking like how it does. The sky in this image looks weirdly like it’s the end of the world and everything is burning. It looks like something you might see in an apocalypse movie poster of something.

 

Poster Project

For the poster project I decided to recreate The Lion King movie poster. The Lion King is my favorite movie and that’s why I decided to recreate it in Illustrator. I tried my best to find a poster that was more geometric and had less curves so that it wouldn’t be such a hard project to complete. For this project, I did almost the same exact procedures as for the last. I found my image, put it in Illustrator, and traced it until completed. The parts that I really struggled on were the lines for the whiskers because they were just lines and not really shapes that could be filled in. Also the poster originally had some black outlines around everything and it was very challenging to try and cover them up. Also the background was challenging because it changed between three different colors blue, purple, and then black. Doing the gradients to achieve the look was a bit difficult. Overall I’m somewhat satisfied with my final poster design. I think if I had more time to work on it my final poster would have been a lot better.

Gradient Mesh Project

For the gradient mesh project I simply choose one of my favorite fruits, a strawberry, and I created my own illustrated image. I began the project by finding an image of a strawberry online. I them put the image into illustrator and used the gradient tool to create the base color of the strawberry. Then using the eyedropper tool I had to go in and do the highlights and shadows and then the seeds. The most difficult part of this project was creating all the little highlights and shadows where the seeds are. The whole process in all honesty wasn't hard but time consuming. I only made one highlight and shadow shape and one seed shape and then I just copied and pasted to make it easier for myself. Personally this project has been the hardest because attention to detail was key in order to make the fruit look somewhat realistic.
